FOR EDUCATORS

It’s About Time, It’s About Space: Executive Functions and the Teenage Brain (5th –12th)

The demands of our executive skills, the skills that allow us to plan, organize, manage time and control impulses, become increasingly more complex with age. Most children with poor executive skills are bright, articulate children who chronically appear to be underperforming. Through the lens of a skill-based vs. behavior-based eye, this workshop will enable teachers to:

  • Determine which students may be experiencing skill-based delays vs. non-compliance or lack of motivation
  • Embed routines for time, organization and emotional management into the structure of daily routines
  • Identify who will be at risk for difficulties with executive functions
  • Employ simple, effective and immediate strategies to support children in informal and formal coaching settings.
